Job Description
The Product Development Assistant will play a critical support role for the PD department, focusing on table linens and textiles. They will be assisting with the entire product lifecycle from concept to launch. This position is ideal for a recent design school graduate or someone with 1-2 years of experience who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to grow within a fast-paced creative environment. This role is essential for streamlining operations and helping the team remain focused on strategic design and planning.
Duties and Responsibilities
The key functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Pre-Production and Vendor Coordination
- Partner with the receiving team to sign off on the first article inspection.
- Maintain libraries of existing product standards.
- Assist in color approvals of re-orders.
- Manage all pre-production paperwork, filing, and organization.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure a smooth pre-production process.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for vendor communication and follow-up.
Sample and Inventory Management
- Organize and maintain the physical and digital sample library in the Miami office.
- Ensure all samples are properly organized and easily accessible.
- Coordinate the organization of prop inventory.
- Coordinate and chase samples and strike-offs for Pablo and the team.
- Maintain the organization of showroom samples and new showroom swatches.
Design and Administrative Support
- Assist with design presentations, including entry-level design work (color, presentation needs).
- Create swatch cards for photography for correct color correction on the images.
- Follow up on photo samples and provide support during photoshoots.
- Assist Product Development and Marketing teams with photo shoots in Miami as well as across the US based on linen collection photo shoots.
- Assist in coordinating physical branding and marketing items (e.g., new polos).
- Assist in the creation of detailed specs for new products and designs.
- Review and approval of lab-dips as needed.
Project and Timeline Management
- Partner with the Product Development team to manage timelines, budgets, and assortment planning from concept to launch.
- Track development progress to ensure collections launch on time and align with seasonal marketing efforts.
- Manage internal tracking tools to maintain project visibility.
- Coordinate new designs from concept to final product.
Special Projects (In collaboration with the President)
- Collaborate directly with Pablo Oliveira, President of Nuage Designs, on various case-by-case initiatives.
- Focus on side projects dealing specifically with the company’s furniture and tabletop divisions.
- Provide specialized support for high-priority custom orders.
- Assist in the preparation of future collections by pulling and organizing samples for strategic review.
- Serve as a local point of contact, coordinating with factories or local vendors in the Miami, FL area to execute project needs.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a design-related field (e.g., Industrial Design, Product Design, Graphic Design). 1-2 years of experience in product development, design, or a related field
- A working knowledge of Adobe programs, including Photoshop and Illustrator.
- An interest in textiles, interior design, or the events industry.
- Ability to pass the Farnsworth-Munsell Hue test or X-rite Hue test for color accuracy.
- Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Foundational knowledge of design principles and a keen eye for aesthetics.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
- Prior experience in product development, design, or a related field is a plus.
- A passion for design and a willingness to learn
