Lasercut Inspiration & A Conversation with Ceci New York

This week we are just so inspired by lasercut florals, an elegant new take on traditional designs. Lasercutting is an amazing tool that allows designers to play with various textures, layers, and sensibilities to craft memorable experiences for their clients.

Because of this, we were able to get together with Ceci Johnson from Ceci New York, the ultimate lasercut invitation designer, and collaborate on a few curated looks for you. Ranging from the modern to the vintage, from the art deco to the traditional, we’ve prepared a handpicked selection of delicate, but edgy modern lace options below. And don’t miss our amazing and insightful conversation with Ceci! Her story is nothing short of amazing and so inspirating to hear.

LASERCUT INSPIRATION GUIDE:

Wedding invitations are not all made the same. Each one has its own unique personality and style which draws inspiration from the couple’s story and shared experiences, as well as their dreams and vision for their big day. A wedding invitation is meant to be memorable, and to share emotions of joy and excitement to their family and friends.

Ultimately though, a wedding invitation is a precursor (a sneak peek, if you will) of the couple’s wedding celebration – setting the tone for what is to come. This week, we paired a few invitation styles from Ceci New York with a handpicked selection of our linens to give you some fresh inspiration for your next event.

ART DECO:

The Art Deco trend is glamorous enough to never go out of style. Geometric patterns, shiny metallics, striking contrasts and luxurious fabrics add drama and glamour to all sorts of weddings and events. The Art Deco style–which emerged as the arts & design movement in France during the 1920’s–features ornate and extravagant details, bold geometric forms and rich colors, with a general lavish and opulent approach.

In recent years the love of Art Deco has been revived with movies such as The Great Gatsby and since then we’ve been seeing this ever-growing trend being translated into various weddings and events. If you’re looking to bring out the Deco Glam on your next event, make sure to check out our White and Gold Deco, Natural Mini Koi, and Copper Sequin Taffeta below!

12-9_photo-1

VINTAGE:

The vintage trend is back with a bang. Its presence can be felt everywhere, especially in the fashion circuit and interior design; taking us back to a foregone era.

With its nostalgic value and eye-catching attributes, the “vintage” concept is creating ripples in the event industry for a reason! If you’re looking for a quaint and nostalgic feel on your next event, make sure to check out our Off White ShimmerPurple Big Lace, and Rose Iris below!

12-9_photo-2

TRADITIONAL:

For those who deeply value family traditions and look to incorporate it in their wedding, the traditional design can still be fun and modern! While your details may be inspired from Victorian influences, make sure that your table linens soften your look and are able to bring unity to all the elements at play. A few of our favorite options for this style are the White Iris, Taupe Victorian Lace, and our Ivory French Lace. Above all, keep in mind that the table is the center of the party for each guest, so don’t be afraid to make it a little fun!

About the Design from Strictly Weddings!

Rose gold is one of the hottest additions to today’s color palette. just the right touch of femininity and dazzle. To create a bold ambiance without being excessively over the top Always Flawless Productions selected a beautiful and subtly detailed linen from Nuage Designs for their tablescape. This kept the high-end feel and created a stage that allowed the table decor to really pop. Breathtaking layers of vibrant color and detailed high and low florals from Jennifer Cole Florals breathed life onto the scene.

Each place setting was splendid using a rose gold charger, gold-rimmed dishes and glasses. To accent each place setting, a delicate individual mini two-tier cake by Cute Cakes sweetened the look of the striking gold menu from Take Note! Creations. The shoot was set under the Aria Pavilion that they draped in flowing white chiffon and lit with an abundance of romantic candlelight. This combination establishing an enchanting vision and warm ambience.

With the assistance of Lounge Appeal, an impressive lounge area was conceived. The white love seats were highlighted with rose gold throw pillows and graced with mirrored side tables that were donned with elegant cakes and glasses of rose champagne and gold detailed place cards. Guests would be sitting in the lap of luxury!

A Conversation with Jose Graterol & an inside look at Engage!15 Orlando

Today we are sharing all of the details of Engage!15 with you, which happened last week at the Four Seasons Resort at Walt Disney World in Orlando, and was truly a magical experience from start to finish!  We were just so taken away by the amazing partnerships, collaborations, and beautiful details that we saw take place at the event. Engage! brings together leaders in the luxury wedding industry, from celebrity planners to luxury lifestyle experts to creative entrepreneurs offering unique insights on business strategies and life balance, as busy pros take a break from serving others to share their own successes and struggles with like-minded, high-caliber peers from the wedding and events community.  It was also so much fun doing the custom printed linens and pillows for the event, which you can take a peek at below.

During the inspiring three-day summit, we found some time to sit down with Jose Graterol from Jose Graterol Designs, who designed the main event gala for the Engage! Fall Summit.  Read all about how Jose got started in the business of floral design and his philosophy behind his beautiful work below…

Black & White Winter Wedding at Lincoln Center

With the weather cooling down and the holidays around the corner, we can’t help but think ahead of the beautiful winter colors. And what a better way to design than by playing with the beautiful whites of the season? Hence, Black & White Winter Wedding came to be. This beautiful styled shoot at Lincoln Center incorporates the classic bold and modern New York style with the iconic architecture of Lincoln Center. A bold and elegant concept is softened by the prominence of the whites, such as our White Blossom linens from our Romance Collection. Beautifully crafted by Bellafare and wonderfully captured by Jen Huang Photography with the lovely and delicate blooms by Quatre Coeur, this shoot is flawless and absolutely inspirational. Check out the full story and photos below!

From Kristin of BellafareDuring a recent site visit to Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, we were inspired to create a modern yet timeless shoot with a black and white color palette. After enlisting the help of the fabulous Jen Huang, our goal was simple — create beautiful images with a touch of fashion, going back in time to a classic New York wedding inspiration with a contemporary twist. With the space’s floor-to-ceiling windows, clean white walls, high ceilings and access to Lincoln Center’s campus and Central Park, we knew this unique, landmark venue would be the perfect backdrop for our winter “wedding.” Our bride and groom sipped on champagne from retro glassware and looked city-chic as they walked hand-in-hand through the Upper West Side. The gorgeous florals were provided by Quatre Coeur and added a bit of softness to the otherwise glitzy and modern décor. After seeing the recent Spring 2012 line of one of our favorite bridal designers, Vera Wang, we were insistent on having our bride wear a black wedding gown to add a bit of high fashion — echoing Fashion Week’s new home at Lincoln Center. This shoot is all that a New York City wedding is about – classic elements, a touch of glitz, unparalleled cityscapes and an iconic venue.

Holiday Gatherings: Hosting a Party!

Ahh, the holiday season… how we love to see it again! As the weather continues to cool down, we can’t help but get so excited about all the holidays coming up, from Thanksgiving to Chanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa.  One of our most favorite things about the holiday season is that it brings plenty of large gatherings with loved ones – so much opportunity to add a little extra love to our table decor for each occasion!  With the season coming so quickly, we wanted to take the opportunity to give you a dash of holiday inspiration for any event you find yourself throwing, whether it is one for the end of fall, a more whimsical affair, or a holiday gathering. Enjoy!

Fall Styled Gathering.

What could be better than a late fall dinner with your close friends and family for Thanksgiving or just to see each other when everyone is in town. Molly Mckinley Designs started with a beautiful design plan, filled with touches of fall, and added understated nods with heirloom pumpkins and dramatic black taper candlesticks. All this while using our own Nude Sequin Pattern and our Heather Grey Faux Dupioni as a backdrop for her stunning design. The end result is festive, in an elegant way, and the perfect way to give thanks with family and friends.

11-11_photo-2

Whimsical & Dreamy Gathering.

Located at Gallow Green at the McKittrick Hotel, a rooftop bar and restaurant with a secret-garden vibe, our inspiration for a whimsical gathering could not be more stunning. Rough-hewn stone and abundant greenery formed an artfully wild backdrop for an alfresco dinner for 40 hosted by fashion site Vestiaire Collective. We love the way that the space was paired with more mannered tabletop styling for visual balance, all while using our Ivory Metallic Burlap as a backdrop. “Creating clean lines and a sense of uniformity on the tabletop helps pull together wild, rustic spaces with distressed details like Gallow Green,” says Tinsel & Twine partner Erica Taylor.  Another of Taylor’s tips is to bring in unexpected juxtapositions. “We don’t like to go too industrial in warehouse spaces, or too rustic-chic in barn venues. It’s more fun to shake things up and give a space a new life,” she says. “For this event, we wanted to keep decor focused with a decidedly polished and upscale feel.” Simply stunning!

Holiday Style Gathering.

This stunning holiday inspiration, featured and photographed by Alexis June Weddings for Love, Inc.’s holiday card, exemplifies the perfectly executed winter event. With various eclectic holiday ornaments, such as conifer branches, candles, and a backdrop of lights, all with our Red Damask Velvet and our Gold Sequin Bubble linens as the base, their fantastic holiday design was both, memorable and festive.

We also just love hearing what Brittny from Love, Inc. had to say about it:

“For Love Inc.’s first holiday card, we wanted to create an inspiration shoot that was the epitome of the holidays: a cozy, festive gathering of friends and family. With plenty of wine. Ashley of Dulce Dreams Events and I teamed up with Karma Flowers to turn the space into a holiday party wonderland, from a hot cocoa station to a decorated bar and Christmas ornaments abound while Brandi of Alexis June Weddings perfectly captured it from behind her lens. We invited the Love Inc. family—the Love List—over to be a part of it, allowing us to introduce these talented vendors to our readers. Watch the official holiday card video here, shot by NST Pictures.”

Connecticut Wedding at Lion Rock Farm

This week we are so excited to bring you Susie and Colin’s beautiful Connecticut wedding! Rooted in quintessential New England charm, they hosted a heartwarming and finely styled wedding that came together perfectly. Between the time of year, the decor, and the location itself, their wedding was absolutely magical and dreamy.

Early October in Connecticut is the perfect time for a wedding of distinction. The temperatures cool off, the fall foliage begins, and the thoughts of a cozy warm fireplace warm our hearts. This feeling of Fall in New England is precisely what made their wedding so remarkable.

The couple chose to have an extended cocktail hour which transitioned from the bar into a heated tent where guests could either sit by the fire, or relax in casual conversation. Just a walk through an indoor pool room, guests entered the main reception tent where all the details came together. Their beautiful rustic celebration, with stunning florals, ornamented candles and intricate stationary will surely inspire your next celebration. Make sure to check out all the details below!

Fall Weddings: Inspired by Marsala

Fall weather is in full force and we’re feeling so inspired by the deep colors of the season. The experience of the outdoors, the amazing weather, and the beautiful sights have in turn converted into an obsession with the feeling of sophisticated, natural earthiness. That’s why this week we’ve decided to focus on how to bring that feeling by incorporating Marsala – the 2015 Pantone Color of the Year – as an accent color or hue to your next wedding or event design.

Marsala is a bold yet dynamic color, so there’s no right or wrong as to how you can use it in an event. Whether you use Marsala as an accent on your tabletop design, as the unifying color that ties everything together, or as a more neutral and background element to the table, you can make it work while evoking different emotions to your guests. The impactful and full-bodied qualities of Marsala make for an elegant, grounded statement color when used primarily on its own or as a strong accent to other complementary and contrasting colors. This tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a level of organic sophistication.

MARSALA-GRAPHIC

Marsala on a table top:

If you’re thinking Marsala-theme, you’re probably thinking Marsala table top, but what to do to make sure it looks great and brings that seasonal feeling to your guests? The key here is in the contrasting accents. You can choose one complimentary and one contrasting color and use different elements of each. For instance, in this particular setup we used our Purple Velvet and Plum Velvet linens from our Elegance Collection as a complimentary color to the Marsala-accented baroque glasses and the various red-shaded laces, flowers, and candles. As a contrast, we incorporated some golden elements such as the silverware, plates, and candle holders. While the colors can be interchangeable, try to find the balance between the different elements. And if you want to go with a Marsala tabletop, make sure to check out our Marsala-inspired linen palette below. Finally, to neutralize the palette, we intentionally set up right next to a green vine on a brick wall. If you’re trying to play with a more baroque look on an industrial space, this could be the perfect look!

Marsala to unify the design:

For those who love the outdoors, but are looking for that sophisticated, natural earthy look– this casual, farm-to-table style will be the perfect one to host your guests for those daytime weddings and parties that extend towards late night gatherings with friends. Here, we make use of a reddish-brown toned wooden table to get the Marsala as the foundation color and then keep a naked look with accents that will create contrast while setting a more earthy and grounded atmosphere that people can relate to. Our Taupe Victorian Lace Runner runs through the axis of the table, dropping on both sides and serving as a boundary for the boho-style flower arrangements, rusted yellow vintage glasses, and a few other intricate details. We then have white plates with copper and silver-lined silverware overlapping and blurring the boundary between runner and naked table. Finally, setting the table in the middle of a (well-shaded) outdoor area with tons of greenery will make the arrangement magical and dreamy and will ensure to be a lifetime memory for your friends and guests.

Marsala as a background neutralizer:

If you want to channel your inner Gatsby and let it loose, this 1920’s-styled table provides an ornate and lavish atmosphere, perfect for a formal gala or tuxedo required event. The sparkly, Champagne Sequin Taffeta provides a clear contrast with the Marsala and black background on the walls, yet the delicate and light lavish arrangement certainly tones down and provides a more lively space for guests to engage in conversation, meeting new people and creating new connections with each other. Simple and classy, this particular design incorporates champagne and gold-colored silverware, glasses and candles to go along the bright Taffeta linen, while the backdrop and the flowers provide a delicate and elegant contrast.

New York Bridal Week: The Knot Gala

New York Bridal Week has been taking place this week and what a better way to celebrate than by throwing a stunning gala at the New York Public Library? As usual, The Knot gala takes the cake as the hottest party in town this year, and we are so excited to have been a part of it with a fabulous A+ team of industry superstars, including the event design and production by Always A Bridesmaid and with invitations by Ceci New York.

It’s such an honor to be involved in designing this, what is notably one of the best industry parties, with such a great team of professionals and partners. The creative process was extremely collaborative as we worked closely with Always A Bridesmaid to put together the linen options based on the palette composed of purples, blues, and gold. The result was a combination of dreamy and ethereal colors and themes, and of course the most awesome people in the industry!

Don’t miss the stunning photography below, courtesy of David Robbins and Jeremy Barlow for the complete event look!

Fall Inspiration: Southern Outdoor Wedding

Fall weather is here, and with it so are beautiful outdoor weddings. Haley & Jeff’s stunning wedding at Lowndes Grove Plantation in historic downtown Charleston, NC perfectly combined both of their personalities–Southern staples like cotton pod boutonnieres for the groom and beaucoups of sparkle for the bride. From the pink champagne tower to the blush-hued sequin-covered linens and the feminine blooms by Branch Design Studio, this affair orchestrated by Pure Luxe Bride is the perfect mix of glam and romance. With dual “His + Hers” outdoor lounges on the sides of the clear-top tent, the gentlemen’s featured a combination of tufted leather sofas, iron chandeliers, and a cigar station, while the ladies’ lounge boasted vintage white settees, a white chandelier, and a touch-up bowl with lipstick and mini perfumes. We are just so obsessed with all the beautiful details of this fabulous affair–magically captured by the talented Dana Cubbage–showing us an amazing inspirational example of how to go with a soft look during this vibrant season.

From The Wedding Row:

We’re tying the week up with a wedding so full of steal-worthy inspirations it’s almost too much to handle! Haley and Jeff’s wedding at Lowndes Grove Plantation was a perfect combination of their two personalities—plenty of Southern touches like cotton pod boutonnieres for Jeff and beaucoups of sparkle for fun-loving bride Haley. From the pink champagne tower to the blush-hued sequin-covered linens and the feminine blooms by Branch Design Studio, this affair orchestrated by Pure Luxe Bride is a perfect mix of glam and romance. Our favorite bit of this dreamy wedding, you ask? Why, the dual “His + Hers” lounges of course! Flanking either side of their clear-top tent were two smaller tents, the gentlemen’s featuring tufted leather sofas, iron chandeliers, and a cigar station and the ladies’ lounge that boasted vintage white settees, a white chandelier, and a touch-up bowl with lipstick and mini perfumes. Amazing, yes? Top to bottom, this beautiful day captured by Dana Cubbage has stolen our hearts. Congratulations, Haley and Jeff!

Elegant Coastal Wedding Inspiration

As we enter Fall season and officially say goodbye to summer, we thought it would be appropriate to reminisce once more about mid-summer coastal weddings before wrapping up the season for the year. Dulce Dream Events set out to create a beautiful elegant and timeless take on nautical weddings, using a very soft and elegant color palette of blue, green, and ivory. We are just obsessed with all the dreamy ethereal details and fluffy blooms from Quatre Coeur! Don’t miss the stunning calligraphy and stationary on sea glass by Everly Calligraphy, the subtle accents of driftwood, and how they all intertwine in our softly textured seafoam linens. The shoot was amazingly captured by Charlie Juliet.

The style of both of the grooms is classic and holds hints of modern elements, a perfect combination for today’s groom to remain timeless and true to himself at the same time. Well-fitted grey jackets with pops of color in shirt, tie and boutonnière are a winning combination and a perfect match with the gorgeous architecture of the Wheatleigh. The details in this stylized session are just as amazing, full of rich purples and elegant golds! You can see more of this wedding in their cinematic film here. Enjoy!
